Selecting Pet Food Packaging

Dry Food (Extruded Kibble): Multi-layer composite films (e.g., PET/NY/PE or PET/AL/PE) are the preferred choice; nylon (NY) or aluminum foil (AL) layers act as barriers against oxygen and moisture, preventing fat oxidation and mold growth caused by dampness. Co-extruded PE film is suitable for small packages, while larger packages require enhanced puncture resistance.
Wet Food/Soft-Canned Food: High-temperature retortable composite materials (e.g., PET/NY/AL/RCPP) are mandatory to withstand sterilization temperatures exceeding 121°C; the inner heat-seal layer must be oil-resistant and free from migration risks.
Freeze-Dried/High-Oil Treats: High-barrier structures containing aluminum foil (PET/AL/CPP) or aluminum-free high-barrier coated films are recommended to effectively block light and oxygen while preserving flavor; structures like PET/MPET/PE may be chosen if transparent display is required.
Liquid/Semi-Liquid (Cat Treat Tubes/Soup Pouches): Requires a structure suitable for automatic packaging roll stock; the inner layer must be a heat-seal layer resistant to product corrosion (e.g., CPP), while the outer printed layer requires abrasion resistance.
